I love walking not just to
enjoy the beauty of nature or to get a little exercise but walking in pensive
silence calms my mind and fills me with a sense of serenity that brings inner
peace.
Nature for me is a source
of solace and inspiration and walking is a wonderful way to connect with Mother
Earth. As we walk, her pulse slows
our own and we are free to turn our attention inward as well as outward. Outward attention summons us to be aware of
the surrounding environment, and when we turn our attention inward, we become conscious
of our body's rhythm and our breath.
My favourite kind of
walking is called “Wind Walking” where currants of air free inner stress and
rekindle the spirit of peace. Wind can be our ally and the “INTENT” of my Wind
Walk is to shift and move energy, allowing it to gently caress me as a new
dance is created.
We all are familiar with a
desire for change and seeking a new direction.
If change is summoning you, NOW is the perfect time to give this a
try. Whether your burden basket is
overflowing with unwanted distractions, chaos, or circumstances beyond your
control the power of the Sacred Winds is an active way to request and receive
guidance.
To experience
this beautiful walking exercise, choose an area relatively free of
“distractions,” preferably flat in terrain. My favourite time to indulge has to
be early mornings, where mellow breezes caress my cheek.
Begin by
imagining yourself as a “Hollow Bone,” a porous empty vessel, prepared to be
replenished and gain deeper spiritual insight. Now, start walking at a pace and
rhythm that feels comfortable. Continue until you are relaxed and your thoughts
settle down. As the Spirits of the Four
Directions ride upon each gusting
current of air, you embark on a journey that will connect you to the Sacred
WINDS. Let your every step be a prayer.
Soon you will feel the Wind’s sweet breath whether warm and gentle or crisp and
cold upon your face, swirling … moving around … and passing through your body.
Be ONE with the sacredness of this tranquil time of assimilation.
PAUSE … LISTEN
… to the murmurs on the breeze … feel “WINDS” force and pay attention to the
direction of “WINDS” arrival. STOP now
… close your eyes and FOCUS on this
direction for a few moments … look up and appreciate the tapestry of Father Sky
stretching
your awareness of the simple beauty spread before you. Slowly turn to face each of the other Cardinal
Directions. Silently
communicating, [be precise and clear] ask each of the Four Directions to help
change the energy as it relates to a specific issue in your life.
Take your time
as you again turn to face each direction. With the intake of every breath, you
are drawing in strength, and with each exhalation, feel Spirit blessing
you. Don’t be swept away by rational
thinking, but ride the ripple of each breeze connecting you to the "Spirit Keepers."
Little by
little you begin to notice as a change of energy comes softly. You are being welcomed by the Sacred Mystery
and will know which direction rules as a sense of tranquility arrives. Spirit
has heard you … guidance has arrived.
Later you will have time to explore it thoroughly new thoughts and
concepts TURN now, face
the WIND of change. You have danced with
each of the FOUR WINDS, it is time to leave but before you do give thanks for
the “Gifts” received.
